The Tea: Wearing Masks With Your Piercings
Hey Body Candy Fam!
TGI...T? Y'all know I look forward to my Thursdays! Here's a brand new edition of my weekly e-zine, 'The Tea.'
Over the last few months, masks have become a pretty normal part of most of our daily lives. There are some complications that come along with wearing something on your face/around your ears, especially when it comes to certain mods. Here are a few tips to think about, especially if you're someone who regularly wears a mask.
Today's topics:
- If you know you're going to be getting a new piercing on the face or ears, try to plan ahead for a period of time when you won't need to constantly wear a mask.
- Piercings to potentially avoid: nose piercings, conch piercings, and forward helix - masks and their elastic bands can put unnecessary pressure on these piercings
- Make sure you're contacting your piercing parlor ahead of time so you know all of their health and safety guidelines - note that many shops are not currently performing piercings that are covered by masks.
- There are different styles of masks to try if you are healing up an ear piercing - you can always try one that wraps around your head (or one that wraps around a unique hairstyle - think Princess Leia buns) to take the pressure off of your ears.
- Speaking of hair, be extra careful with your hair management as well. Take an extra second to ensure your hair won't be caught between a piercing and your mask.

Healing a new piercing can be a tricky process. Even for pros, since every body is different and every piercing experience varies, there's no 100% tried-and-true answer for every single scenario. For first-timers, this unknown can be very stressful and rather intimidating. For example, have you ever seen a bit of clear fluid seep out of your fresh piercing? Have you ever wondered if there's a surefire way to heal up a piercing a bit more quickly? Have you ever heard that rumor that suggests that you should twist the jewelry inside its healing piercing site to help it heal up properly? We answer all of those questions and even more in our latest FAQ blog titled - "How Do I Know If My New Piercing Is Healing?"
Time to highlight some jewelry goodies! We just got a brand new shipment of body jewelry to check out. We're always getting in new belly rings, nipple rings, industrial bars, cartilage studs, septum rings and clickers, 14k gold jewelry, eyebrow and rook jewelry, and much much more. So this week, I implore you to check out our new body jewelry collection - up above in a cute and convenient little link. Next, we've also been stocking up on a hot new trend, aurora gem body jewelry. Aurora gems shimmer and shine in a way that normal gems don't. Each one is different, coated in an iridescent layer that catches the light in just the right way. Blues and greens, pinks and purples, oranges and yellows - the angle of the light and the individual gem determines how you'll perceive them. It's something you definitely need to try out for yourself. Finally, since we're still crushing the summer months here, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention our lovely skincare serum - Christopher David Vitamin C serum is the next, amazing addition to your skincare routine. Why use this amazing little formula? CD Vitamin C Serum is a skin-smoothing and soothing serum that can help to protects your skin from UV rays while helping keep your skin looking youthful and brilliant. It keeps your cheeks feeling smooth and bright. It keeps your eyes looking refreshed and rested. Remember that being a pierced/modded individual means taking good care of your skin - your piercings will thank you in the long run.
